ROCKET, now made in France

ROCKET has relocated a significant part of its screw production to its plant in Thelonne (08). This strategic initiative represents an initial investment of more than €3m. The aim is to strengthen our industrial independence and boost the local economy. The investment includes the installation of three production islands equipped with coining machines, rolling machines and splitting machines, as well as a heat treatment line and a complete quality laboratory covering an area of around 2,000 m2.

STAGES IN THE MANUFACTURE OF A SCREW

STAGE 1: SHAPING - TRANSFORMING STEEL WIRE INTO SCREWS

Machine park capable of producing screws from 80 to 400 mm (Ø 6 and 8)

  • 5 coining machines
  • 3 rolling machines
  • 3 slot machining

Production capacity 240,000 screws per day

The screws are shaped on 3 islands:

Block 1: screws from 160 to 400mm
Block 2: screws FROM 80 to 100 mm
Island 3: screws from 110 to 150mm

There are 3 processes in each block:

Head strike

Forming the screw head

Thread rolling

Screw thread formation

Anti splitting

Making the anti-splitting notch

STAGE 2: HEAT TREATMENT - GUARANTEES THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SCREW

1 heat treatment line:

  • Case hardening: Heating to shape the screw.
  • Oil quenching: Rapid cooling trapping the carbon in the iron.
  • Tempering: Treatment to increase ductility and toughness.

STAGE 3: SURFACE TREATMENT - ELECTRO-GALVANISING

Sub-contracted operation to protect the screw against corrosion.

STEP 4: PACKAGING - PUTTING THE PRODUCT IN A BOX

Existing equipment: Weigh Pack
